This was caught on 04/16/2026 on springdale at 8pm. Run by a human driver! Literally had multiple opportunities for an accident. I was going the speed limit and keeping my distance for the long run. And this car was just waiting.
On two occasions, the vehicle accelerated at a traffic light once it turned green and hit breaks for no reason in the middle of intersection (with no intention of turning, it was continuously going straight) and then momentarily proceeded like normal. Both instances almost caused an accident, as you don’t expect this behavior in the middle of the road while there’s barely any traffic. The vehicle was also making random almost full stops in the middle of the road while nothing warranted it: no stop signs or traffic lights, no other vehicles, no pedestrians, nor animals were on the way.
At the earliest opportunity, we passed the vehicle and went around it using the left lane. I was a passenger and had more flexibility to look around, so I looked into the vehicle and there were two people sitting in front. The person (a man) at the driver’s seat made an eye contact with me while laughing and being visibly excited. I also noticed that he was inching into the lane we were in as we were passing.
All in combination felt like this person’s actions were intentional while absolutely unwarranted: we maintained safe distance while driving within the speed limit in the area, we did not tailgate this vehicle, and we had zero interactions with these people that would trigger this kind of behavior.
I can’t stress this enough how dangerous this behavior is. I refuse to believe that this could have been caused by the self-driving car or technology in any way. Seeing self-driving cars and experiencing them first-hand, I refuse to believe this behavior was caused by the program/algorithm/etc. This is NOT how they behave on the road. Even when in Beta. This was intentional human behavior that put other people in danger.
